After delays in preparations Charles Brandon Duke of Suffolk eventually crossed the Channel to make ready to cross the border from English held Calais to attack and take Boulogne from Francis
Three Sided Attack Planned
Under a new strategy devised by Bourbon, the original plan to attack Boulogne was abandoned. Instead, John Russell, future Earl of Bedford, French rebel the Duke of Bourbon and Charles V were to join forces and, with England, a three-sided attack on Paris was planned – the victors were to divide conquered France between them. In the plan, Charles Brandon Duke of Suffolk would attack Paris.
But Only Suffolk Turned Up – No Charles or Bourbon
Contrary to his promise Charles had not moved into Guienne, but had kept his Spanish armies camped on the frontier at Narbonne.
Bourbons rebellion had also gone wrong. A few days after Bourbons meeting with Russell, just before Suffolk's army left Calais,one of Bourbons pages had betrayed his plans to Francis.
